Make Your Mark at The Firm
So, if you would like your next e-mail to us to stand out, here are a few ideas:
CVs
Give us the Facts. Always include your name, address and full contact details (mobile/home phone, preferred email etc). Your professionally-taken close up picture will make a strong impact.
It’s your CV. Make it yours and as personalized as you like; avoid just filling in the blanks on CV templates.
Be thorough. List your education and jobs, starting with your most recent position and working backwards. Include addresses of employers. Give us a detailed description of your previous roles and your current job. If you are not working right now, please tell us- it will not damage your application and means you are available for an immediate start. If you have left a job, say why. If you have gaps in your CV, tell us why.
Cover Notes
Say ‘Hi’. Include a cover note with your application- we like ‘short and snappy’. If you want to contact one of us specifically, please do so. You can see our profiles on our website (www.thefirm.ie). If you live outside of Dublin, or even abroad, say when you can come to meet us, and be sure to let us know what you know about the Irish market.
The Job Application. If you are applying for a specific position, say how your experience matches the job specification. If this is not apparent, tell us why you are applying – you could be right!
About You. Our candidates are real people, much more than the sum of their experiences and skills. So tell us about YOU: hobbies, interests, what makes your blood boil or gives you goose bumps.
Finding You. We want to contact you about jobs that may advance your career, and time is often short, so please let us know the times at which you are most likely to be available and your own preferred method of communication be that phone or email.
